Egyptian Dj Kaboo Brings Arab Trap to Marvel’s ‘Moon Night’ for a Pulsating Soundtrack

With a seasoned ear for sampling sections of classic Arabic hits, Egyptian artist DJ Kaboo is making cinematic history with the feature of his distinct Arab Trap beats in Marvel’s ‘Moon Knight’. Characterized by stuttering rhythms and dark synths, the Dubai resident’s unique sound welds together the old with the new, adding a contemporary, hip-hop flair to nostalgic Arabic melodies. Fusing together old Arabic pop with heavy-hitting trap hip-hop, two of DJ Kaboo’s tracks “Made in Egypt” and “Enta” made big splashes in the show’s premiere episode as well as the intro and outro of the third episode.

Moon Knight is Marvel’s first production to dabble in the Arab world, onboarding acclaimed Egyptian filmmaker and executive producer Mohamed Diab to steer the wheel. As Marvel’s first Arab director, Diab set out on a mission to showcase the untapped potential of Egypt’s massive talent pool. Along with DJ Kaboo, the internationally acclaimed series’ is brought to life with a pulsating soundtrack featuring fellow Egyptians, Wegza and Najat Al Saghira.

The Arab world is long overdue for global recognition and, finally, the blossoming MENA music scene is getting a taste of the international stage.
